Seamed

Seamed

What it is

The basic safe edge. The sharpness is taken off, so the edge is safe to handle, but it is not polished: it stays frosted and matte looking from the side. This is the standard, no-extra-cost finish, finished enough to be safe, not finished enough to look polished.

In the Glass Theory customizer, Seamed is +$0 per piece.

How a machine does it

  1. The piece is cut to size first.
  2. The edge is lightly ground and sanded, just enough to remove the sharp cut edge.
  3. No full polishing passes are done, so the frosted look stays.
  4. The edge is checked by touch: no sharpness left, safe to handle.

When to pick it

  • The edge will be hidden in a frame, channel, or against a wall
  • You want the lowest cost and just need it safe to handle
  • The look of the edge does not matter

When you do not need it

  • The edge will be visible, where Flat Polish or Flat High Polish is the choice
